This work captures the different faces and phases of women today. And questions how our modern day culture has raised and bred women. What has society defined as strong? Where is wisdom and character? Is it predominant in each woman, and in parenting?

This artwork comes with a poem as words wanted to come out onto paper. The poem has birthed the painting, and this poem is inscribed into the art work.

This poem is a separate piece of original work hand-painted and signed by the artist, and included with the original painting.

Is it in fierce eyes
That polished look
That chiseled jaw or that power suit

Is it in flawless skin
Impeccable photo-shopped complexion
The tiara on your head
Mascara applied to perfection

Is it in colored hair
Or that cold dismissive look
Brute strength and muscle on a court

Hallmarks of Monroe
The pin-up girl obsession
Searching for acceptance
A martyr’s pain and victimization

Do these sum up your wisdom
Does it reveal your true strength and grace
What do you say is your worth
Who have you allowed to set your pace

Be gentle with yourself
This is not condemnation
You sell yourself short
If you feel un-deserving

This viscous cycle perpetuates
As you see your own child through this veil
You deny her and the world
Her true wonder and life
By denying yourself your full
Love, wisdom and light
